A “VIRTUAL” HUG

For the past 30 years, we’ve loved creating beautiful images of happy families for our clients to cherish. We are all, no doubt, feeling the strain of life in isolation by now. Unable to have the freedom to go where we want, see those that we love and who love us and having lost a physical connection between everyone we care about, we’ve all had to find new ways of keeping ourselves occupied during these extraordinary times.

As a small business, we have followed the government instructions and closed our studio to the public, for the foreseeable future. We have, however, set ourselves a challenge, over the next few weeks to produce a book, with a snapshot (no pun intended) of lives during the Coronavirus pandemic with all proceeds from any sales of the book going to charity.

Until the government tell us it is safe to reopen our photography studio, we can’t be there for the important moments in your life that we would normally record in photographs for you but we do feel it is important to document these strange and scary times and we hope to include as many of your own “memories” as possible, with your help.

Please help us to create a lasting record of these times by sending us your experiences of being in “lockdown”. These can be a written account of how it’s affected you and your family, a photo (or photos) that you’ve taken during this time (maybe include an image of something you’ve made or done (on your own or with your family). Perhaps you have a favourite “go to” recipe that’s been a favourite during the quarantine period or maybe you’ve created a whole new dish made up of what you’ve had left in the fridge or cupboards – we’d love to hear about it!

If you would like to take part in this charity fundraising idea, please email your photos, etc to us at
bookings@hallmarkphotography.co.uk before the end of April. We can’t guarantee to include all of them, but we will do our best to make it a fair representation of your personal experiences (good and bad, as we don’t want to just produce a sugar-coated version of events – it’s important to us to provide an accurate account of how our lives have changed during this period).

We’re not asking for any financial contribution towards the publishing of the book (we plan to cover the cost of this ourselves) – all you need to do is send us anything you think might be suitable to include. Please make sure that you have permission to share any images or other information before sending anything to us.

We can’t do this without you, so please spare a few minutes to take part.

Updates on the progress of the book will appear on our Facebook page, so please keep an eye on these as we will be asking you for further suggestions and ideas as we go along.

Thank you
